Women Farmers Training on Sustainable Kitchen Gardening & Nutrition

This 2-day training programme was designed to empower tribal women farmers with practical knowledge and skills in kitchen gardening, sustainable agriculture, and nutrition. Conducted in collaboration with ICAR-CIWA, the initiative focused on strengthening women’s capacity to grow nutritious food and adopt eco-friendly farming practices.

Objective

To enhance women’s knowledge in sustainable farming techniques, improve household nutrition, and create opportunities for additional income through small-scale agricultural practices.

Training Highlights

Day 1 – Knowledge & Learning
  • Understanding seasonal vegetables and their harvesting cycles.
  • Identifying low water requirement crops for sustainable farming.
  • Learning about crops suitable for full sunlight and low-light conditions.
Day 2 – Field Visit & Practical Exposure
  • Scientists from ICAR-CIWA visited community kitchen gardens
  • Appreciated the women’s dedication, quality work, and enthusiasm.
  • Hands-on exposure through a Nutri Garden (Kitchen Garden) visit.
